Shoyeb Aftab Family

Son of a businessman and a homemaker, Shoyeb is the first in his family who would be joining a medical college.

As a student, Shoyeb recounts, he was good in studies but not exceptionally so. When he was in Class 8, his father, who was a tea merchant at the time, suffered tremendous financial losses. It was then that his father changed his business but Shoyeb was not certain if his family could afford coaching classes in Kota.

“I came to know about Tallentex – the scholarship program of Allen, which is at par with NEET level. It was then that I focussed and started to put in my effort. After I cleared the exam, I was motivated and also started to put in more effort,” Soyeb shared.

Managing school and self-study required some work. Shoyeb used to go to his coaching classes directly from school and his day usually started at 6 am and finished at 7 pm. After this, Soyeb used to devote 2 to 3 hours for self-study.

“I was not happy with the 3 hours of self-study and would devote the holidays and Sundays for self-study. On those days I put in 13 – 14 hours uninterrupted. For my Class 12 boards, I only started to study in the month of January.” Shoyeb scored 96 percent marks in his CBSE Class 12 board examinations.

What is JKSSB Normalization Process?

Normalization is a process to adjust values measured on different scales to a notionally
common scale.
Moreover, It is done to evaluate the performance of the candidates on the basis of similar exam
parameters and aims to adjust the difficulty level across different shifts of the exam.
Eg: This year, JKSSB conducted the JKSSB Class IV examination in 3 shifts and a lot of students from
various shifts were complaining about unevenness in the difficulty level of the questions
and it was unfair to evaluate their result as it was not their fault to lie in that particular
shift.

For example, the average marks, scored by the students in the first shift were 60 out of
100 and in the second and third shift students were able to score 70 out of 200.

The reason was the difference in the difficulty level of the question paper & hence the aspirants were
unable to score more in the first shift.
To tackle this situation, JKSSB is now following the process of normalization.
This time JKSSB, in its official notification, has clearly stated that the marks scored by the candidates will be normalized.
