Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani today chaired a meeting in his office chamber regarding the empowerment of specially-abled persons in the district.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer PW(R&B) Kargil, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Chief Education Officer Kargil, District Panchayat Officer Kargil,
Headquarter Assistant and Coordinator SAMAGRA.
During the meeting, the ADC took a review of facilities provided in government buildings/offices for specially-abled persons and directed the concerned department to make every government building disabled-friendly.
While taking a review of construction of toilets in various schools and healthcare institutions, the ADC directed for retrofitting wherever possible and ensure enough space inside the toilets.
The Superintending Engineer informed the meeting regarding the action plan which has been submitted including size and free space in toilets for specially-disabled persons.
The ADC directed the CMO to identify health institutions and submit the action plan for the installation of facilities for specially-disabled persons.
The CEO and CMO informed the meeting that the ramps are already constructed at various institutions of health, education and for the construction of toilets only budget is awaited.
Later, the DPO assured that the action plan for public toilets at various places in Kargil district will be submitted at the earliest.
