JKPSC Mains Exam to Begin on February 20 as per Schedule, Confirms Controller Exams

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission

JAMMU: In a recent update from the Controller Exams, it has been clarified that the interim relief provided by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) is restricted to only eight petitioners and not for any other candidate. This news comes as a relief to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) as it had been facing uncertainty over the conduct of the mains exam for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE).

Earlier, a few candidates had approached the CAT seeking a stay on the JKPSC mains exam, which was scheduled to begin on February 20, citing discrepancies in the results of the preliminary exam. The CAT had then granted interim relief to the petitioners and directed the JKPSC to not declare the results of the preliminary exam until the matter was resolved.

However, with the recent clarification from the Controller Exams, it has been made clear that the interim relief is only for the petitioners and not for any other candidate. This means that the JKPSC mains exam will proceed as per schedule from February 20, The exam will be conducted in various centers across Jammu and Kashmir.

Candidates who are appearing for the JKPSC mains exam have been advised to follow all the guidelines issued by the JKPSC regarding the exam, including carrying a valid photo ID proof. The JKPSC has also advised candidates to check the official website for any further updates regarding the exam.

With the clarification from the Controller Exams, the JKPSC can now proceed with the mains exam as per schedule, providing relief to thousands of candidates who were eagerly waiting for the exam. It is hoped that the JKPSC will conduct the exam smoothly, and candidates will be able to perform to the best of their abilities.

Rising Unemployment in Jammu Kashmir Paints a Bleak Picture for the Region’s Future

Protest

The recent data showing a 7% spike in the unemployment rate in Jammu Kashmir to 21.8% in January is a cause for concern. The highest unemployment rate in the states and UTs across India highlights the ongoing struggles faced by the region in terms of employment and job opportunities. The Jammu Kashmir National Conference has pointed out the growing unemployment, development deficit, and administrative apathy as major issues in the region.

While the government claims that there are a large number of job opportunities available, it appears that this is not reflected in the unemployment data. The high number of postgraduates and PhD degree holders who have registered for jobs and the large number of applicants for a limited number of government posts further highlights the significant demand for employment in the region. The unemployment rate in Jammu Kashmir remains a pressing issue that requires immediate attention and action from the government.

In addition to the rising unemployment rate, it is also concerning that many businesses in Jammu Kashmir are not paying their employees. The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries reported that thousands of salesmen in the tourism and mobile services business, including shops in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk, were not paid salaries for several months. This not only exacerbates the unemployment issue, but it also creates financial strain on those who are already struggling to make ends meet.

Furthermore, it is disheartening to see that highly educated individuals, such as scholars with Ph.D.s and M. Phil degrees, have had to resort to alternative forms of employment, such as running a tea stall, in order to earn a livelihood. This is a clear indication that the current job market is not providing enough opportunities for all, and the government needs to take swift and comprehensive action to address this issue.

The rising unemployment rate in Jammu Kashmir, combined with the lack of job security and inadequate wages, highlights the need for a comprehensive solution to address the employment and job market issues in the region. The government must work with local businesses, organizations, and educational institutions to create job opportunities and provide support for those struggling to find employment. Only then can Jammu Kashmir begin to see a significant decrease in its unemployment rate and a brighter future for its people.

India Makes Historic Discovery: 5.9 Million Tonnes of Lithium Reserves Found in Jammu and Kashmir

Lithium in Jammu and Kashmir

In a major discovery, the Union Government of India announced on Thursday the identification of 5.9 million tonnes of lithium reserves in the country for the first time. This news comes as a boon for India’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, as lithium is one of the key components in EV batteries.

The geological survey of India (GSI) found the lithium reserves in the Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The GSI has handed over 51 mineral blocks, including lithium and gold, to the respective state governments. The blocks are spread across 11 states of Jammu and Kashmir (UT), Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.

In addition to the mineral blocks, the GSI also handed over 17 reports of coal and lignite with a total resource of 7897 million tonnes to the Ministry of Coal. The GSI has taken up 115 projects on strategic and critical minerals and 16 projects on fertiliser minerals. To support its objectives, the GSI has also taken up 55 programmes on geoinformatics, 140 programmes on fundamental and multidisciplinary geosciences, and 155 programmes for training and institutional capacity building.

The GSI, established in 1851, has grown into a repository of geo-science information and a geo-scientific organization of international repute. Its primary role is to provide impartial and up-to-date geological expertise and geoscientific information for policy-making decisions, commercial and socio-economic needs.

The discovery of lithium reserves in India is a significant step towards the country’s self-reliance in critical minerals and boosting the country’s EV industry. The GSI’s proposed Annual Programme for the Field Season 2023-24, which was presented and discussed during the meeting, includes 966 programmes, comprising 318 mineral exploration projects, including 12 marine mineral investigation projects.

In conclusion, the discovery of lithium reserves in India is a major milestone for the country’s mineral sector and is poised to transform the country’s EV industry. The GSI’s efforts to create and update national geoscientific information and mineral resource assessments are commendable, and its continued work towards discovering more reserves is sure to drive the country’s economic growth in the future.

J&K Administration Issues Order to Halt Sale of Agricultural Land of Missing People, Declare Them Presumed Dead After Inquiry

Jammu Kashmir State Land News

Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory administration continues its crackdown on properties allegedly encroaching government land and has issued a new order for tehsildars to ensure that the agricultural land of missing people is not sold or the crop proceeds used by any third party. The tehsildars have been asked to declare the missing individuals as “presumed dead” and to not issue any revenue documents for the land.

The order was issued on January 31 by the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, as it is suspected that these properties are being used to finance terrorism. The properties in question largely belong to people who went to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir during the peak of militancy and have not returned since or to individuals who have joined the militancy and have been untraceable for years.

Investigations have revealed the presence of such land patches in all tehsils of the Valley, with police informing the administration that these properties are being used to finance terrorism. The official noted that rules stipulate that if a landholder is absent from the village for more than seven years, the tehsildar shall presume that the individual is dead and pass orders accordingly.

Family members or other co-sharers in blood relation may use the share of these “presumed dead” individuals, but they are not entitled to sell, gift, or in any manner alienate the share. No revenue documents of such lands shall be issued. The administration has ordered the necessary entry to be made by the tehsildars.

The ongoing anti-encroachment drive has generated controversy, with political leaders from parties such as the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party calling the exercise unjust and anti-poor, aimed at targeting a particular community. However, the J&K administration has denied the allegations, stating that the drive has not affected the poor and that politicians are criticizing it because they have lost their own properties built on encroached government land. The order clarifies that this does not apply to properties held by migrants, so as not to affect properties of persecuted minorities who left the Valley due to fear.

Electing the Future: Upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Elections in Jammu and Kashmir

The upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are set to be held in the near future and are being closely watched by the political and media circles. Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory located in the northern region of India and is known for its rich culture and history, as well as its strategic importance for the country.

The assembly elections are an important event for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as it will determine the direction of the UT’s future political, economic and social development. The Union Territory is divided into 2 regions – Jammu & Kashmir – and both regions have its own unique challenges and priorities.

The main political parties that are expected to contest the elections include the National Conference (NC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Indian National Congress (INC). Each of these parties has its own strengths and weaknesses and is expected to make a strong showing in the elections.

The BJP, which is currently in power at the center, is expected to focus on its development and security-related initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. The party has been working to increase the pace of development in the UT and to provide better opportunities for the people.

The NC, on the other hand, is expected to focus on its traditional support base in the Kashmir region and to emphasize its commitment to preserving the UT’s unique cultural and historical heritage. The PDP, which was in power in the erstwhile state from 2015 to 2018, is likely to focus on its experience of governance and its ability to deliver results for the people.

The INC is expected to be a strong contender in the elections, given its strong support base in the Jammu region and its commitment to the welfare of the people. The party is likely to focus on its promise of creating jobs, providing better healthcare and education, and improving the quality of life for the people.

In conclusion, the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are of great significance for the people of the Union Territory and for the country as a whole. The elections will provide an opportunity for the people to choose their representatives and to have a say in the direction of their UT’s future development. The political parties will need to work hard to win the support of the people and to convince them of their vision and ability to deliver on their promises.

A well-crafted manifesto can help political parties to connect with the people, build trust, and win their support. The manifesto should be a roadmap for the future development of Jammu and Kashmir, and should reflect the priorities and aspirations of the people of the Union Territory.

This is why it is essential to take a stand and work together to raise awareness about the impact of cancer and the steps that can be taken to reduce its spread.

One of the ways to do this is by educating people about the importance of early detection and treatment. Regular check-ups, screening tests, and healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce the risk of cancer and ensure that people get the treatment they need as soon as possible. The earlier cancer is detected, the better the chances of survival, which is why it is essential to educate people about the importance of early detection and treatment.

In addition to early detection, another key factor in the fight against cancer is research. Scientific research has made significant advances in the development of new cancer treatments and therapies, and this work is continuing. Through funding and support of cancer research, people can help bring new treatments and therapies to those who need them most.

Another important way to support World Cancer Day is by advocating for better access to cancer care and treatment for everyone. This means advocating for increased funding for cancer research and treatment, and for better access to care and support for people with cancer, no matter where they live.

In conclusion, World Cancer Day is an important opportunity to come together and raise awareness about cancer and its impact on people’s lives. By working together and advocating for better access to care and treatment, we can help prevent, treat, and beat this disease. So, let us all join forces in the fight against cancer and make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.

Another way to raise awareness about cancer is by participating in local events and activities, such as walks, runs, and other fundraising events. These events not only raise funds for cancer research but also bring people together to show their support for those affected by this disease.

World Cancer Day is also an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made in the fight against cancer. Despite the challenges and obstacles, the scientific and medical communities have made significant advances in the treatment and care of cancer patients. The discovery of new drugs and treatments, as well as improvements in diagnostic tools and techniques, have helped improve the lives of millions of people with cancer.

Moreover, it is crucial to recognize and support the people who have been affected by cancer. Whether they are patients, survivors, caretakers, or loved ones, they all play a critical role in the fight against cancer. By showing our support and compassion, we can help them feel less isolated and more empowered as they navigate their cancer journey.

In conclusion, World Cancer Day serves as a reminder that cancer is a global health challenge that affects us all. By taking action and joining forces, we can help prevent, treat, and beat this disease. Let us all work together to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer and make a world where cancer is no longer a threat.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the rate of cancer cases has been on the rise in recent years. The region has seen a significant increase in the number of people diagnosed with cancer, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming years.

One of the main reasons for the high rate of cancer in Jammu and Kashmir is a lack of awareness about the disease and its causes. Many people in the region do not understand the importance of early detection and treatment, which leads to a high number of advanced cases. Additionally, the region faces challenges in accessing quality healthcare, which makes it difficult for people to get the treatment they need.

Another factor contributing to the high rate of cancer in Jammu and Kashmir is the prevalence of risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets, and exposure to environmental pollutants. These risk factors increase the likelihood of developing cancer and make it more challenging to prevent and treat the disease.

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken steps to address the high rate of cancer in the region. This includes increasing funding for cancer research and treatment, as well as working to improve access to care and support for those affected by cancer. Additionally, the government is working to educate the public about the importance of early detection and the role that lifestyle choices can play in reducing the risk of cancer.

In conclusion, the high rate of cancer in Jammu and Kashmir is a serious concern that requires the attention and action of both the government and the public. By working together to raise awareness, improve access to care and treatment, and reduce risk factors, we can help reduce the impact of cancer in the region and improve the lives of those affected by this disease.
