EC Tashi attends inaugural ceremony of 15-day training program on carpet weaving

Executive Council, RD, Tourism, Zanskar Affairs, Handicrafts, LAHDC, Kargil, Er Punchok Tashi today attended the inaugural ceremony of the 15-day long training program on carpet weaving for artisans of Handicrafts Department Kargil.

The training program is being organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce, UT Ladakh in collaboration with OBEETEE Manufacturer & Exporter of Hand Woven carpets.

In his address, EC Tashi thanked the UT Administration for giving opportunities to the artisans of Ladakh at various platforms to showcase their products such as Dilli Haat and also appreciated their efforts of making the artisans’ artifacts unique.

He also urged the artisans to take advantage of such trainings and improve their talent for making good products. Tashi also assured for all possible help for the artisans.

At the event, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve urged the artisans to use quality material to make comparative products. He urged the artisans to take benefit from such rich expertise of the OBEETEE.

The DC also informed the artisans about Council Subsidy Budget to purchase affordable machineries. He also informed about the gender budget to make them economically independent.

Earlier, AD Handicrafts Kargil, Raziya Khatoon, OBEETEE Coordinator Dharun Rao also spoke on the occasion. District Training Coordinator, Kaneez Fatima presided over the function. Later, Superintendent Handloom, Iftikhar Ahmad presented the vote of thanks.
