Jammu and Kashmir Tourism is of course a giant industry that accommodates millions of domestic and foreign tourists every year. The rush of tourists in the summer and winter seasons has forced the Government to take initiative to explore new tourist destinations so that people earn their livelihood. Winter season is more captivating for adventure lovers.

Gulmarg pops up among the top ski spots in the world. The skiers and snowboarders can reach the top of the mountain by taking a ride in the world’s second-highest cable car, Gondola, and then come back descending from the peak of the Affarwat mountains and the Khilanmarg hills.

They are assisted by guides who make sure that they reach their destinations safely. Many families and honeymoon couples enjoy their holidays. They love to take sleds as well as horse rides. They also have fun by taking rides on the A.T.Vs. The Winter season is a platform for all sports lovers. Winter festivals are celebrated with great pomp. Snowboarding and skiing competitions are organized to boost the talent of youngsters to take part in the national and international levels in the future.

Ski courses are arranged for locals, nonlocals, and foreigners. Many games and cultural programs are organized in this festival to encourage people. The horsemen and guides are totally dependent on the winter season to earn their livelihood.

They earn money by assisting the tourists for which they are paid prices. When tourists visit these destinations, they not only enjoy the beauty and adventure but also strengthen the economy of our UT. They buy a lot of Kashmiri products like pherans, shawls, carpets, wooden decorations, dry fruits, etc. They visit hotels and dhabas which adds to their income of people.

Tourists have tea in small stalls. Some of them stay in houseboats for nights. The vehicles which carry these tourists also benefit from this season. Thousands of people are dependent on the tourism industry. People wait for a long time for this earning season. But sometimes there is a huge rush of tourists but there is a lack of accommodation which brings loss to the economy.

During the summer season, we must prepare for winter tourism. Many facilities should be provided to outsiders so that they enjoy vacations with comfort. When outsiders visit here they enjoy themselves and when they go back they talk about the beauty of Kashmir that they had witnessed themselves.

They bring in more people every year. They not only enjoy the beauty but also explore the culture of Kashmir around the globe. The administration must draw more attention to this industry because thousands of people in the valley are quite dependent on this industry.
