In connection with the celebration of ‘Good Governance Week’ being observed across Kargil district, a program was today held at Govt. Higher Secondary School Sankoo which was aimed to show and replicate the best governance practices at the grassroots level.
The program was headed by SDM Sankoo, Muhammad Hanief. Incharge Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar Sankoo, officials of various departments, locals of Sankoo block also attended the program. It was intended to create a national movement for good governance.
During the celebration, the SDM approved a compensation amount of Rs 62 Lakh for land, trees and houses under various link roads for sub-division Sankoo which was hailed by the public.
Talking about ‘Good Governance Week’ celebration, the SDM Sankoo said it is aimed to focus on various activities to demonstrate the government’s commitment towards providing transparent, effective and accountable governance to people across the country.
The SDM appreciated the work progress of various departments and their enthusiasm in developmental works for the public at large. He also appreciated the departments for implementing various welfare schemes.
The SDM said the Nationwide campaign for redressal of public grievances and improving service delivery will be held in all Districts, States and Union Territories of India and will create a national movement for good governance that will inspire future generations.
As part of the program, NRLM Unit Kargil, District Youth Service and Sports Kargil, Handloom Department Kargil including Weaving Centre Sankoo, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kargil circle Sankoo, ICDS Project Kargil, Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry, Health, PHE Kargil One Stop Centre set up their stalls that highlighted their achievements and best practices.
The stalls were the major attraction of the program during which several departments also highlighted their achievements, progress and future plans.
Reader to SDM Muhammad Ismaiel highlighted the progress of the Revenue Department including issuance of LRC, income certificate, mutation attestation and housing loans. He said over 20 LRCs, 20 income certificates and 5 mutation attestations were provided on spot.
During program, the concerned departments talked in detail about various welfare schemes of the Government of India and UT Ladakh through which people can avail benefits.
