Ghulam Nabi Azad, chief of Democratic Azad Party (DAP) on Thursday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) assembly elections in J&K should be held within next six months.
DAP chief, Ghulam Nabi Azad while speaking in Lolab, Kupwara as per the news agency said, that since the assembly was dissolved, the Jammu and Kashmir has gone through the several uncertain and unexpected things which includes the abrogation of Article 370, which no one could have ever thought.
Azad, while urging the government to hold the elections in next six months said, that they can’t wait till the year 2024 for the assembly elections. “We have already suffered a lot and the election is need of an hour”, said Azad, as per KNO.
He said that the decision of dissolving the assembly was totally unjustified as the situation in the valley was peaceful and there was no militancy at that time.
“Our youth who are well educated are frustrated and are involved in drug addiction which is more worst than cancer, besides we are going through many uncertain things. There is no MLA, no CM or any other representative who can represent the people in government. To end this uncertainty, elections need of an hour,” Azad said.
He also said, that all previous regimes have neglected the Lolab—(KNO)
