Indian Army conducts commercial mushroom farming in J&K’s Hunch village

As part of continued drive to ameliorate the lives of locals and to outreach population in remote area , Indian Army , Doda conducted Commercial Mushroom Farming Workshop under Operation Sadhbhavana at Hunch village on 22 Sep 2022.

The rural face of Doda district still follow traditional model of agriculture for self – sustenance and have not adequately monetized their handwork due to lack of knowhow . Further , due to remote nature of terrain & unavailability of skilled guidance , the agriculture suffers from poor yield .

In order to mitigate this problem and provide imminent relief to the people from these ailments , Indian Army conducted a Commercial Mushroom Farming Workshop in association with Horticulture Department in Hunch village.

A total of 30 small land – holding farmers participated in the event . The project aims to provide economic independence and social inclusion among the locals.

A large number of villagers hailing from far – flung areas of the Doda region were selected and will be imparted training on scientific mushroom farming techniques along with provision of necessary infrastructure , mushroom spawns and agriculture raw materials required for the project.

The beneficiaries include exclusively people below the poverty line . This initiative empowers the locals to improve their economic status and provides an opportunity to take advantage of the transforming agri landscape.
