JEE Main 2022 Alert: No correction window this time after registrations close

Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2022 registrations are underway. National Testing Agency, NTA released the notification on March 1, 2022. Candidates may please note that this year a few changes have been made in the application process as well as the examination pattern. For starters, there is no correction window this time after registration closes on March 31, 2022. The changes this year are quickly summarized below for quick reference.

JEE Main 2022: Registration, Exam Pattern and other changes

  • To begin with, NTA has reverted to its model of 2 sessions for JEE Main 2022 this year – the four sessions, it clarified, was only a one time measure adapted by NTA due to the second wave of COVID.
  • This year, NTA has done away with the correction window system. Earlier, students were given time after the applications were closed to make any corrections in their applications, if any. From this year, however, there is no correction window. Students are hence advised to very carefully fill the application form.
  • Application form for only April Session to be filled between March 1 and March 31 – for May Session, the application window would be reopened on April 8 and students would have time to apply for May session till May 3. Accordingly, students must ensure that they apply only for April session and then fill another application for May session in April when the window opens – if they wish to appear for both the sessions.
  • Apart from this, the examination pattern has also been revised this year. Unlike previous years, the Section B of Paper II – B.Tech examination, would also have negative marking. A notice to this regard was again released on March 3 by NTA on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The correction was made in the information bulletin, basis which students must now remember that the Section B – which is the numerical section, would also have negative marking now. The students are required to enter the integer value in the space provided – wrong answer would have a negative 1 mark penalty – like in the MCQ or Section A.

The syllabus, eligibility and process has not changed for JEE Main 2022. Students still have the option of appearing for either one or both the examination. JEE Main 2022 Session 1 would be conducted from April 16 to April 21 while Session 2 would be conducted from May 24 to May 29, 2022. The results for April session is likely in first week of May while for May Session and ranks, JEE Main 2022 result is expected by mid-June. JEE Advanced 2022 registration is expected to begin soon after for the July 3, 2022 examination.
