JKSSB Junior Assistant Case Update: CAT Bench dismisses pleas challenging selection list

SRINAGAR – Central Administrative Tribunal Srinagar Bench has issued a verdict regarding the selection process for 1540 Junior Assistant positions that were advertised by the Service Selection Board. The selection criteria consisted of 20 points for a Skill Test and 80 points for a Written Examination. The Normalization process of Equi-Percentile Equating Method was used to determine the final result.

Applicants who were not satisfied with the selection process filed a case, challenging the use of the Normalization process. They argued that this method was unscientific, non-transparent, and had a scope for manipulation. The applicants also claimed that the selection process was changed suddenly, just a day before the written examination, which they could not challenge.

The court found that the respondents had informed the applicants about the Normalization method through notices dated 27.10.2021 and 19.1.2022. Additionally, it was also mentioned in the scheme of examination that the marks scored by the candidates in the written test would be normalized if necessary. As a result, the court found the case to be devoid of merit and dismissed it. The interim order was vacated, and the respondents were allowed to proceed with the selection process and appointment of the candidates as per the advertisement notifications and the scheme of examination.
