Srinagar, Nov 05: Chief Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD), Javed Yousuf Dar Saturday said the power curtailments will come down this winter with the conductor upgradation of 320KVA Wagoora-Zainakote, 132 KVA Mirbazar-Wanpoh. He added this winter the Kashmir valley will witness less power cuts as compare to previous years.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dar said the department has taken several measures to tackle with the low power cuts in winters. He said that despite indispensable curtailments this winter the power supply in valley will be far better than previous years.

“Prior to winters the PDD had taken inspection of supply lines across valley. The damaged lines were repaired, rusted poles were replaced and other necessary things were done”, Dar said and added, “With the conductor upgradation in 320KVA Wagoora-Zainakote, 132 KVA Mirbazar-Wanpoh, the unscheduled power cuts will be dealt majorly this year”.

He said the curtailment will come down this year due to conductor upgradation at 320KVA Wagoora-Zainakote, 132 KVA Mirbazar-Wanpoh. “The experts are on job. The conductor upgradation at 220 KVA Wagoora-Zainakote line will likely be completed today”, Dar asserted.

He said the PDD has ensured stock of poles and transformers at all district headquarters this winter to deal with any eventuality. “We have sent poles, transformers and other necessary electric parts and equipments to districts and directed them to use the material in exigencies”, he added.

Notably the valley is witnessing frequent power cuts during this winter, leaving consumers to suffer badly.(KNS)

Srinagar November 04: Dr. Qazi Mudasir from Central Veterinary Hospital Srinagar has been awarded internationally by Global Alliance for Rabies Control a US & UK based alliance for Rabies Control. GARC is dedicated to eliminate rabies in both humans and animals in support of the global goal to end deaths due to canine-transmitted rabies by 2030. Its mission is to prevent human rabies deaths, and to relieve the burden of rabies in other animal populations, especially dogs. It is dedicated to eliminate rabies in both humans and animals.

Dr. Qazi Mudasir reported that incidence of Rabies in animals has been reduced to almost nil in Kashmir valley by educating masses regarding the role of prophylactic and post bite anti-rabies vaccination in animals. Further by making people aware regarding the behaviour of canines and keeping the provision of food & shelter for strays has definitely helped better community relationships between humans and dogs.

Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir under the able guidance of Shri. Atal Dulloo (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Production Department Jammu & Kashmir has kept various medicines, vaccinations in the Veterinary Hospitals on subsidized rates so that every animal owner can afford treatment and care for their animals. Department has also kept provision for free treatment of stray and destitute ownerless animals who are in dire need of help and treatment.(KNS)

DPS Srinagar shines at the Virtual Inter-DPS Quiz

Srinagar November 02: DPS Srinagar was the runner-up at the junior level in the Virtual Inter-DPS Quiz organised by the DPS Society on Monday, 31st October 2022.

Simultaneously, the Senior team qualified for the Nationals by beating 30 schools to secure their spot in the National Finale that will be held in December 2022 at DPS Mathura Road. Imaad Tahir and Hamza Bukhari of class VIII formed the junior team, while as Ahmed Ibaad of class XI and Khalid Khursheed of class X formed the Senior team.

The theme of the quiz for both the teams was 75 Years of India’s Independence with multiple sub-themes related to sports, art, literature, music, corporate affairs and associated fields. The quiz began at 8 AM with the preliminary round followed by three rounds that ended at 4.45 PM with MCQs, direct oral questions and Visual Still questions.

The Junior team was trained and accompanied by Mr Javid Wani (STT faculty, middle) and the Senior team by Mr. Muzaffar Ahmed Bhat (SST faculty, Secondary). IT support was provided by the school IT department with Mr. Javid Sofi (IT faculty, Senior) being the Tech head for the event.

Congratulating the participants for their stellar efforts, the Principal Shafaq Afshan said, “Both the Juniors and Seniors made us proud by not just outshining their peers, but also by their wit, awareness and grasp of facts and knowledge. Our tradition of excellence is forged precisely from such feats.

” The Chairman Vijay Dhar too congratulated the participants and said, “DPS Srinagar stands as a synonym for excellence, and this performance proves it yet again, though it hardly needs proving anymore. Srinagar, 01 Nov: In an order issued by Chief Engineer KPDCL informed the residents of Khunmoh, Srinagar that the electricity supply will remain shut on 3rd and 7th November 2022, the power supplies will be cut from 10 AM to 5 PM on both the dates.

The order copy further reads Superintending engineer has requested for shutdown of 33KV-Khunmoh-Sidco-III on the given dates in order to facilitate the works related to construction of 33KV line – 7.5 Kms grid station Khunmoh to Khyber Industries.

Downtown Heroes enter semi finals of the Positive Kashmir football tournament

Srinagar, October 31: In a closely contested match between Downtown Heroes and Arco fc, Downtown heroes emerged as victors this entering the semi finals of the days tournament.

The first half ended 0-0 with Arco Fc creating some good chances but were unable to add the finishing touch.
Downtown Heroes took the lead early in 2nd half and doubled their lead shortly afterwards.
Later in the game Arco fc were able to half the deficit and further tried to equalize but were unable to do so.

Nabeel of Downtown Hero’s was declared the man of the match.

As per the fixture Third and fourth quarter final will be played between Ali jana Fc and Syed tajjudin Fc at 2pm kickoff time and Mahraja Fc and Fc one at 5pm .

Srinagar: Srinagar Police on Saturday asked people to verify credentials of prospective sellers, buyers, middle-men etc. during land sale-purchase dealings to avoid cheating during other monetary and business transactions as well.

“Many complaints have been received from citizens of Srinagar related to cheating during monetary and business transactions and during land sale-purchase dealings as well. It is requested to kindly verify credentials of such persons like prospective sellers, buyers, middle-men etc”, Srinagar Police in a tweet said.

Notably number of locals earlier approached police after duped by elements during monetary and business transactions. The locals had sought legal action against these elements to stop such irregularities. Sources in Police informed that Many land grabbers and such cheaters have been booked in FIRs and PSAs have also been invoked. (KNS)

In a tweet, Srinagar Police wrote, “An Incident of sacrilege took place in Khan Masjid Gojwara, wherein a person threw Quran Sharif in water. Accused namely Irshad Ahmad Mir of Maloora srinagar arrested in overnight raids. The person seems of unsound mind. Case registered in Nowhatta Police station under relevant sections,”.(GNS)
