The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has declared the result for the Urdu Qualifying Paper for the posts of Election Assistant (Junior Scale) and Patwari/Settlement Patwari. This announcement comes after the board advertised 110 posts of Election Assistant (Junior Scale) (Election Department), Item No. 99, and 01 post of Patwari/Settlement Patwari (DMRRR) through advertisement No. 04 of 2020 dated 16.12.2020 and advertisement No. 05 of 2022 dated 09.09.2022, respectively.
The board had previously issued an advance notice for the conduct of the Computer-Based Written Test (CBT) for these posts through Notice No. JKSSB-COE0EXAM/10/2022-04 (CC-7055504 ) dated 06.01.2023. The syllabus and scheme of the examination, including the Urdu Qualifying paper, were also notified through the same notice.
The CBT examination for the aforementioned posts was conducted on 07.02.2023. A total of 3723 unique candidates were scheduled to appear for the examination, out of which 2980 candidates participated.
As per the criteria outlined in the notification, the JKSSB has released the list of candidates who have qualified the Urdu paper for the posts of Election Assistant (Junior Scale) and Patwari/Settlement Patwari based on the CBT examination held on 07.02.2023.
Candidates who appeared for the examination and wish to check their results can download the name-wise PDF from the official website of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board. The PDF will contain the names of the qualified candidates for the Urdu paper for the respective posts.
It is advised that candidates visit the official website and follow the instructions to access and download the result PDF. The JKSSB will provide further instructions regarding the next stages of the selection process for the qualified candidates.
The J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has advertised various Divisional/District Cadre posts belonging to the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Jal Shakti Department, vide Notification No: 01 of 2023 dated: 11-04-2023. The date of commencement for submission of application forms was 17-04-2023 and the last date was 16-05-2023, which was later extended up to 23-05-2023; vide Notification No.: JKSSB-PLAN/16/2022-03 (E- 7047427) dated: 16-05-2023.
The J&K Services Selection Board has received requests from candidates for providing edit option for modifying certain details submitted by them in online application forms for the aforementioned posts.
In view of the above, it is hereby notified for information of all such candidates who have applied for the posts advertised vide Notification No: 01 of 2023 dated: 11-04-2023, that the “EDIT Option” for modifying some permitted fields/particulars, shall remain available online for five days w.e.f 27-05-2023 (12:01 AM) to 31-05-2023 (11:59 PM)
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has rejected the bail application of a police officer and his son who were arrested by the CBI last year in connection with the police sub-inspector recruitment scam.
Justice Mohan Lal dismissed the joint bail application moved by Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar and his son Jaisuriya Sharma, terming it “misconceived under law”.
The police officer and his son were arrested on November 6 and 9, respectively, by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for their alleged active role in the recruitment scam and were among 33 persons charge-sheeted by the central probe agency on November 12 last year.
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) conducted the recruitment examination in March but the list of 1,200 selected candidates, along with that of 1,300 junior engineers and 1,000 finance account assistants, was cancelled by the administration in July following allegations of paper leak and malpractice. The CBI is investigating the sub-inspector recruitment scam.
“I am of the considered opinion that at this stage when the investigation is yet to be completed, it is the fittest case where bail ought not be granted and the petitioners/accused too have failed to carve out a strong case for bail in their favour,” the judge said in his 10-page order on Wednesday.
Kumar and his son had sought bail from the high court after their earlier application was rejected by the chief judicial magistrate, Jammu. In their latest application, the petitioners claimed the records of the case clearly reveal that there is not an iota of evidence of their role in the leak of the question paper and that they have not committed any offence.
Senior additional advocate general and CBI counsel Monika Kohli vehemently opposed the bail plea on the grounds that they, along with other accused, have indulged in a criminal conspiracy with officials of JKSSB and M/s Merit Trac Bengaluru, the company assigned the task of conduct of written examination.
She said they are among 33 accused persons indicted in the case and have played a “key role” in the scam.
“The investigation conducted so far has revealed that M/s Merit Trac Bengaluru was awarded (the contract for) conducting the written examination for the post of sub-inspectors in J&K and during the conduct of the examination, petitioners entered into criminal conspiracy with other accused based in Haryana for leak of question papers and sale of the same to the candidates in lieu of money.
“Petitioners/accused are highly influential persons and may influence the prosecution witnesses, whereby, the investigation may be prejudiced and more so the career of hundreds and thousands of aspirants have been marred/spoiled, the investigation is underway and more accused are likely to be arrested for sustained interrogation,” Kohli said.
She said that if the petitioners are enlarged on bail it will be difficult for the investigating agency to unearth the inter-state gangs operating in several states. Agreeing with the CBI counsel, the judge said recruitment scam in government services undermines public confidence in the system and causes grave injustice to the deserving and meritorious candidates.
Kumar is accused of arranging vehicles on March 25, 2022 for transportation of candidates, including his son, from Jammu to Karnal for providing leaked question paper in lieu of money and was in constant touch with other accused persons. On health issues of Kumar, the judge said the administration is under legal obligation to provide all medical facilities to the petitioners in judicial custody, if required. (Agencies)

The referral of these vacancies by the government indicates a commitment towards generating employment opportunities for the youth of the region. The government has been actively working towards creating jobs for the youth by launching various schemes and initiatives.

The JKSSB’s decision to continue with a fraudulent blacklisted company indicates how deeply entrenched corruption is in J&K, said Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Several netizens have taken to social media to question the BJP’s lack of support for the protesting aspirants. Many are expressing their disappointment and frustration, arguing that the party should be more responsive to the demands and concerns of the citizens it serves. Some are even accusing the BJP of being indifferent to the issues facing job seekers and prioritizing its own political interests over the welfare of the people. These criticisms highlight the importance of accountability and transparency in government, as well as the need for elected officials and political parties to listen to the voices of their constituents and work towards finding solutions to their problems.
A senior JKSSB official said the company was hired as per the central and J&K governments’ guidelines and completed the blacklisting period of three years in May last year. However, several states had blacklisted the company, and the Delhi High Court had imposed a penalty of ₹10 lakh on the company for alleged malpractices in recruitment.
The protesting aspirants have four core demands – the immediate withdrawal of the exam calendar released by JKSSB, removal of Aptech from conducting government recruitments, technical investigation into exams conducted by Aptech, and stern action against those involved in paper leak scams.
The up-roar continues in Srinagar, where several aspirants staged a protest on the second day. National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah condemned the lathi-charge on protesting aspirants and demanded that the contract with Aptech must immediately be canceled. Abdullah also said that the contract is dangerous and puts at risk the future of scores of aspirants who rely on JKSSB to conduct recruitment exams.
