Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today took the Constitution Day pledge that commemorates the day the constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949.
The CEC took the Constitution Day pledge and read the preamble at Council Secretariat Kargil in presence of EC, Social Welfare, Syed Mehdi Fazily, EC Works Mubarak Shah Naqvi, Councilors in LAHDC Kargil besides concerned officers.
During the ceremony, it was stressed to uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India and the ideals and institutions included in the Constitution.
The CEC highlighted the salient features of the Indian constitution, the essence of which is enshrined in its preamble. He reiterated the commitment to work in sync with the constitutional principles for faster growth, progress and development of the nation.
He termed the Constitution as “a living machinery and a vehicle of life” and a “holy book” that has guided in developing India and enabled people to fulfill their aspirations.
The CEC urged all the officers to take necessary steps for the national campaign, focusing on creating awareness regarding the fundamental duties. He stressed the need to renew commitment to uphold and practice the principles and values enshrined in the Constitution.
He said there is a need to study and understand various aspects of the Constitution and their applicability in day-to-day life with regard to fundamental rights and duties.
The CEC urged upon all officers/officials to maintain a sense of brotherhood, achieve the idea of social, economic and political justice, liberty of thought and expression, equality among all and element of fraternity as enshrined in the preamble of the Constitution.
During the ceremony, participants expressed their strong will to secure to all its citizens justice, liberty and equality. Besides, promote among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation.
