The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center in Jammu is making a mark and setting a milestone by educating students to remote villages of Jammu.
For fulfilling the dream of getting higher education many students who are not able to afford formal education or are not getting admission in degree colleges are opting for IGNOU.
Dr Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In Charge informed that nearly 77 percent of students from rural areas have opted for IGNOU and enrolled themselves for various programmes in 2021-2022. Further Gupta informed that this shows that IGNOU has left a mark and represents its reach in remote areas.
He said that IGNOU, over the years, has been able to provide quality education to the marginalized sections of society and added that they have enrolled a large number of SC/ST students for a number of programmes of the University for which the programme fee is exempted
He also stated that the University has digitized the study material for different programmes and IGNOU also provides a discount of 15 percent on the programme fee to the students who opt for digital material rather than the hard copy. (JKNewsLine)
