International Women’s Day DC Kupwara Inaugurates 2 Day Conference on ‘Gender Equality and Quality’ Education at GDC Women Kupwara

KUPWARA :  On the eve of International Women’s Day,  Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Dr.Doifode Sagar Dattatray today inaugurated a two-day conference under the theme “Gender Equality and Quality education: Cornerstones of Sustainable Development”  at Government Degree College (GDC)Women Kupwara. Spread over four technical sessions, the Conference is being organized under the aegis of District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Social Welfare Department Kupwara. Eight Resource Persons from different institutions are giving their presentations and a large number of College students are participating in the conference. While welcoming the guests and the students to the two-day conference the Principal of the College, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Lone deliberated upon the importance of holding the Conference on the eve of International Women’s Day. The Principal discussed in detail the Sustainable Development Goals with particular reference to Gender Equality and Quality Education. In his Keynote address the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray (IAS), congratulated the College administration for organizing the conference and further urged the students to work hard so that their underrepresentation in different walks of life is improved which is paramount for attaining empowerment. During first technical session Dr Manzoor Ahmad Parray, Assistant Professor (Education) GDC Sumbal, gave a presentation on “Quality Education through NEP 2020”, which was followed by Dr Shazia Lone, Assistant Professor (EVS) GDC Kupwara who gave a presentation on “Gender Equality: Eco-Feminism and Sustainable Development”. During second technical session Ms. Khalida Sultan, a budding woman entrepreneur from Vilgam Kupwara, shared her success story with the audience. At the end of second technical session Advocate Nadia Firdous, Member Bar Association Kupwara, gave her presentation on “Gender Equality and Legal Debates in Indian Judiciary”. The proceedings of the Day first concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Tariq Ahmad Ganai, Assistant Professor (Urdu) Government Degree College Women Kupwara.
