Sumit Thakur: Son of a driver cracks UPSC CSE Exam

Sumit Thakur, the only son of Jharkhand school van driver Vijay Kumar Thakur, resident of Road No. 3, Adityapur 2 Colony, has become an IAS officer by securing AIR 263 in the UPSC civil services results 2021, reported India Today.

Sumit resides in Bangalore and that is where he prepared for his UPSC exam from, the India Today report added.

“Apart from his father, his family includes his homemaker mother and an elder sister who is married.”

Sumit did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission School, Bistupur in 2012, followed by intermediate classes from Rajendra Vidyalaya.

He got a BTech in Computer Science from BIT Sindri in 2018 and after that, set a goal to clear the UPSC exam and dreamed of becoming an IAS officer.

He told that at the time of graduating from BIT Sindri, he bagged jobs in three big companies in the campus placements but declined them.
